Garry Carson Jones

I began my music career at the age of ten and wrote my first song at the age of fourteen. I am an accomplished musician and singer/songwriter and have accumulated a vast repertoire of original and cover songs.

I resides in the Bega Valley on the beautiful Sapphire Coast of NSW. I originate from the Monaro Country, born in a small country town called Delegate (pop. 700), where I was raised within an immediate and extended family of avid musicians.        

In 2001 I was outright winner of the Merimbula Country Music Talent Quest winning both singer/songwriter and recorded songwriter sections. During 2003 I made the pilgrimage to Tamworth, buoyed by my local success, and entered the Tamworth Songwriters’ Assoc. Tiara Awards, and was rewarded with a berth amongst the finalists. That same year I was a finalist in the Steel City Champion of Champions in Newcastle and came third in the National Champion of Champions showcase in Canberra. In 2005 I again entered the Tamworth Songwriters’ Assoc. songwriting contest and again was reward with two songs amongst the finalists.

I've backed well know legends such as Normie Rowe, Leo Sayer, Sharon O'Neil, John Paul Young and I currently perform with Frankie J Holden in our band "The Stumbling Wilburys".

Over the years I have performed in bands such as Hot Ice & Chill(well known rock bands on the south coast), and currently perform in bands such as, Poddydodgers, With the Jones's, The Stumbling Wilburys and Mojo.

“The Poddydodgers” released a country rock album called “Spirited” featuring fifteen of my original songs. With “Jack Frost” getting airplay on CMC.

I also released an acoustic album “Atonement” featuring 13 heart felt original songs. Both albums are available on iTunes & cdbaby.

With a swag of new material already written I plan to record my third album this year with my new band "Mojo". This album will be a selection of rock through to country.

I also perform in four duos. One with my brother Shayne, called "Jones Brothers Duo", the second with Andy O'Donnell, the third with Micheal Cootes, and the fourth with Frankie J Holden.

#Mojo is my latest band with basically "The Jones Brothers Duo' and Sam Martin joining the brothers. This band covers all genres and will record later in the year.

PROFILE

The Jones Brother's Duo are based in the South Eastern New South Wales and have established a firm following as a great acoustic duo. The outfit puts a unique slant on the country/rock genre due to varied musical influences of the band members. Their repertoire is a mixture of covers & originals covering all genres from country to rock.
